Programme

From October 2026 to May 2027

The programme of Dhagpo Kundreul Ling

Cultivate Your Inner Wealth

Everyone aspires to lasting happiness free from all suffering. Living in a complex and constantly changing society generates confusion and dissatisfaction. For twenty-five centuries, the Buddha’s teachings have invited us to cultivate our inner wealth by developing kindness and discernment.

Even today, the values conveyed by Buddhism lead us to better express our humanity by taking care of ourselves, others, and the world. Through the three aspects of practice– study, meditation and daily practice – we become more aware of how we perceive our environment and our true nature.

“To study means to learn the Dharma. It involves reflecting upon it, pondering its meaning precisely and understanding it. This is what will allow one to take the teaching as a reference. And it is on this foundation that meditation or practice will be supported by study.”

Lama Jigme Rinpoche

An Introduction to Buddhist Meditation

Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February
Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 May

The practice of meditation leads to a more peaceful and at ease mind. As our mind becomes relaxed, events that usually disturb us lose their importance and we consider them less dramatically. Through meditation, the mind gradually learns to no longer be distracted by circumstances. When the mind is not affected by internal and external movements, it is able to discover its own stability and tranquility. A stable, undisturbed mind leads us to experience less suffering in our life.

During this course, the various meanings of the Three Jewels will be explained, as well as how we can apply refuge in daily life.

MEDITATION

Commemoration of Lama Gendun Rinpoche’s Parinirvana

Saturday 31 October
When the 16th Karmapa sent Lama Gendun Rinpoche to France, he said, “I know you are a lama who has carried his practice to its conclusion. The time has come for you to accomplish the benefit of others.” And thus for more than twenty years, this monk and accomplished yogi made the Buddha’s teaching accessible in France and Europe to whomever wished to practice it. The purity of his ethics, the depth of his meditation, and the clarity of his mind made him a source of inspiration for a great many practitioners, Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike, which still continues to this day. Lama Gendun Rinpoche left us on October 31, 1997.

The Bodhisattva Chenrezig

Approach to the Practice

Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November

One aspect of wisdom is the expression of the qualities of the awakened mind, which are present in everyone. Chenrezig represents universal compassion with his mantra of OM MANI PADME HUNG. Meditating on Chenrezig gradually dispels the veils that obscure our inner wealth, and helps our innate compassion to ripen within us.

This practice is accessible to beginners. The weekend is an opportunity to explore Chenrezig’s practice, discover its meaning, and get comfortable with the text by learning how to identify key phases.

MEDITATION

Foundational practices of Mahamudra – Mandala Offering

Approach to the Practice

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November

The practice of mandala is the third part of the foundational practices of Mahamudra. These practices help to prepare oneself for the practice of vajrayana.

The mandala offering is a meditation that involves mentally offering all the riches contained within the universe to the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha) and the Three Roots (Lamas, Yidams and Protectors). The vast scope of this offering makes it one of the most effective means of gathering favourable conditions and increasing wisdom.

This course is intended for people who are engaged in the foundational practices of Mahamudra and who wish to receive explanations on the mandala offering so that they may put them into practice.

Explanations will be based on the commentary by Lodro Thaye, the 1st Jamgon Kongtrul (1818 – 1899), entitled The Torch of Certainty, and will alternate with periods of formal practice.

Foundational practices of Mahamudra – Bodhisattva Dorje Sempa

Approach to the Practice

Saturday 21 et Sunday 22 November

The practice of Dorje Sempa is the second part of the foundational practices of Mahamudra. These practices help to prepare oneself for the practice of vajrayana.

Dorje Sempa, whose mantra is called the hundred syllable mantra, is a manifestation of the immaculate and unchanging nature of the mind. This meditation, which purifies negativity and veils, reveals our deepest nature.

This course is intended for people who are engaged in the foundational practices of Mahamudra and who wish to receive explanations on the Dorje Sempa practice so that they may put them into practice.

DISCOVERY / INTRODUCTION

Introduction to the Awakening Mind

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December

‘Kindness and compassion are qualities inherent in human nature…They arise from a deep and personal understanding, not from emotional feelings.’ (Lama Jigme Rinpoche). It is by understanding how we ourselves function that we can understand others. Then what is known as the enlightened mind can emerge. This begins with an intention and translates into a growing ability to help others in practical ways. There are no shortcuts on this path, but the conditions necessary for developing the enlightened mind are explained during the course.

Kagyü Mönlams

Retransmission of the accumulation of aspiration prayers taking place in Bodhgaya, India

The dates will be confirmed at a later date
The Kagyü Mönlam is one of the most important events for Buddhist practitioners of the Karma Kagyü school, where for an entire week, aspiration prayers are collectively recited for the happiness of all.

The Kagyü Mönlams are an opportunity for people from around the world to come together to recite prayers emanating from the profound wisdom of the buddhas and bodhisattvas. The power of these aspirations is multiplied exponentially by the gathering of thousands of practitioners who, together, unite their wishes for the well-being and spiritual development of all.

This year, for the seventh consecutive time, the Dhagpo Kundreul Ling community will once again be taking part in these aspiration prayers. They will be broadcast from India on a large screen.

Whether in the presence of Gendun Rinchen and the monastic community in the Main Temple of Dhagpo Kundreul Ling, or live on our YouTube channel, all practitioners are invited to join us in this accumulation.

The whole purpose of the Buddhist path is to bring it to light by removing the adventitious obscurations that temporarily veil it.

The 50 Stanzas on the Lama and The 14 Root Downfalls of Vajrayana

From Saturday 3 April to Friday 9 April

Lama Jampa Thayé will conclude his exposition of Bhavideva’s 50 Stanzas on the Lama, based on Tsarchen Losal Gyamtso’s commentary, and will begin his exposition of Jetsün Drakpa Gyaltsen’s commentary on The 14 Root Downfalls of Vajrayana.
Samayas are the commitments connected to Vajrayana practice and are taken when one receives an empowerment from a qualified master. These commitments are important as they help practitioners to avoid mistakes that hinder one’s progress on the path. They specifically relate to the relationship with the spiritual master, awareness of our afflictions, and how to develop the enlightened mind and put it into action. Lama Jampa Thaye explains in detail the meaning and character of these commitments, how to preserve them, and the methods of reparation in the event of damage to one’s samayas.

MEDITATION

Lojong, Spirituality in Everyday Life

Approach to the Practice

Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 May

Based on a practical approach that can be applied to everyday life, training the mind means developing our wisdom and compassion. Through reflection and meditation, and starting with our egocentric habits, we transform the way our mind works, gradually opening up to our true reality. This approach is inspired by Lojong, the teaching of the Indian Buddhist master Atisha (982 – 1054), which explains, in the form of pithy slogans, how to bring every situation onto the spiritual path.
